Oy vey. “Valentine’s Day is coming up, and you know what that means!” screams pretty much every magazine cover, drugstore aisle, and internet article after sunset New Years Day. Who are you if you don’t show a little love mid-February? Are you made of stone? It’s very true that not everyone does gifts for Valentine’s Day but in the spirit of romance (and in case you still need some ideas), let’s check out some options on this very special Want It edition!
If You Need It Now: Jewelry
TJ Maxx has been killing it with their earrings. Really simple, classic, kinda preppy designs that set my heart aflutter – and cheap enough to pick up a pair (or two) for yourself or a gal pal. Favorite brands are Mia Fiore and Bella Jack. Here are a few I found on TJ Maxx’s website but I saw a lot more in-store as low as $12.99.
Mia Fiore Gold Plated Sterling Silver Textured Love Knot Earrings – $19.99 (also in silver and rose gold)
Bella Jack Set Of Three Gold Tone Crystal Cluster Earrings – $19.99
Bella Jack Antique Gold Tone Crystal Necklace And Earring Set – $19.99 (I’m not one for wearing matched sets but both the necklace and earrings are lovely alone and together.)
If You’ve Thought Ahead: Engraved Jewelry and Accessories
Remember going into Things Remembered and being like “wow, this is so much stuff that I can get engraved with my loved one’s name”? Well I do, and there’s a special place in my heart for engraved items. I love how it can make any item feel special – from a wedding ring to, well, a watch (Fossil will engrave items for an additional $10). This bracelet is very pretty and available in gold, silver, or rose gold. And how cute are these rings I found on Etsy? Great for your sister or the ladyfriend who may as well be.
If You Want Something Different: Box of Dates
I saw this on Etsy. It’s cute without being barfy and only $18. We’re often at a loss for ‘something to do’ and this at least jump starts the process. On the flip side? This is something you could make yourself if you’re crafty and have some time on your hands!
Speaking of, maybe some DIY?
There’s nothing better than a handmade gift. Pinterest has opened up a whole new world of possible failure but also great success. Yes, everything looks stupid perfect on Pinterest but here are a couple of no-fail ideas that will make you look like a winner. Plus they’ll make it seem like you didn’t wait until the last possible second (you would never do that though, would you?).
This is a super cute, easy DIY that will take a few minutes (seriously, the PDF is here) but has serious joy potential.
Here’s another cute, easy craft. Got a map? Got something to draw/sew/decorate with? DONE. Yours can be as complicated or as simple as you’d like. Map out your travels or your courtship. Map out places you’d like to go in the future and mark them off as you go. The possibilities here are endless and pretty much anyone could pull this off. Perfect.
Sure, Valentine’s Day is really just another day but why not take the excuse to show your favorite person (whether they’re your romantic partner, best friend, or partner in crime) how much you like them?
