Well, the day has come. I’ve been waiting all week and now it’s finally here! I was so excited to find my first Stitch Fix box sitting on my kitchen counter when I got home from work and couldn’t wait to see what was inside. I snapped these photos with my phone tonight because I just couldn’t wait to post about it but full review to follow this weekend when there’s way-more-flattering daylight available. They sent me a cute pair of skinny jeans that I really like (and jeans-shopping is the worst) but the shirts leave something to be desired. I’ve got to admit these have left me scratching my head a bit. Part of doing Stitch Fix was getting out of my comfort zone and… they are. Hey, I’m not the professional here.
Here is shirt #1. It’s not a bad shirt. I’m not really about pleats and the pattern is a little busy but I don’t hate it. I just don’t know if it ‘sparks joy’ in me.
My stylist, Janet, thought this was the cutest lil’ thing. And it is. There are elephants for goodness sake! It’s flowy and I like the sleeves but it’s a little wide for my tiny torso and I don’t know if it’s in the ‘cute’ way. As much as it looks like a lump of elephants on the hanger, I’m afraid it looks kinda the same on my body.
Little green shirt should have been a no-brainer for an easy pick. The problem is that it’s super wrinkled and is so super wrinkled it’s hard to even tell how it fits. Is it because of the way it was packed in the box or is it because this is the kind of fabric that always creeps back into a wrinkle no matter how many times you steam it?
I have to ask myself: Self, if you saw these items on a rack at the store, would you try them on? Better yet, would you check the price tag before or after you tried them on? And finally, would you spend a sizable chunk of change on any of these shirts (let’s say an average of $50)? I just don’t know yet and that hesitation makes me think the answer maybe might be ‘no.’ Further, my husband didn’t really like any of them and told me that I should probably ask another girl. That definitely inspires confidence.
