It’s good to want. Builds character. Right? So in my first Want It Wednesday, let’s discuss what’s been on my mind-grapes this week.
1. Fossil Tailor Tan Leather Band Watch
While shopping for a tote this weekend, I stopped by Macy’s with my husband to give the Fossil Sydney Shopper a second look. While there, I fell in love. With a watch.
Now, I’m a watch girl. I wear a watch almost every weekday – in fact, I’m wearing a watch right now that my husband gave me for my birthday 3 years ago. The only time I do not wear a watch is when I forget it (oops) or when I’m wearing a shirt or sweater that just doesn’t fit a giant, clunky, ‘boyfriend’ watch.
For that reason, I’ve been half-heartedly looking around for a new watch. I haven’t given it my full commitment because it’s not high on priority list. I have a watch that works. Plus, I really like where the Apple Watch is going and I don’t want to be hasty before the Apple Watch 2 comes out in the next few months. But when I saw this Fossil Tailor leather band watch, I was instantly about it. And I don’t even like leather band watches.
There is much to be liked about this watch. First, it is smaller than my current clunker of a timepiece and much more delicate. I love the antique beige on the face along with the subtle swirled design. Love the detail on the hands and although I swore I wouldn’t get another watch with ‘subdials’ (I never, ever update them), this watch could talk me into it. It’s got a classic look that would go with almost any outfit and would tuck neatly under my shirt sleeve. Alas, it’s also $105.00, which isn’t a whole lot for a watch, but a bit more than an impulse buy.
2. Medium-Weight Parka
Spring will come eventually and with half of my jacket supply now KonMari’d, I’m considering something new. Target never has jackets in extra small in-store. When I saw this Mossimo Supply Parka in gray at the Target in the city, I decided to check online for a smaller size. Behold, a single XS remained in stock online! But when I tried to put it in my cart, it became clear that this jacket was a mirage. Nothing in stock. I tried on a similar jacket at Levi’s, but the extra small was too big. I have a lot of trouble with jackets in general because of my small frame. Why must the universe tease me so?
3. Ideas for Lunch to Take to Work
Ugh, the eternal question. Shall I bring my lunch or buy something? We rarely have leftovers that aren’t already marked for dinner the following day, so I usually have to come up with something on the fly. Sometimes I’m planning far enough ahead to throw some chili ingredients in the slow cooker overnight but usually I’m rooting through the fridge 7 minutes before I leave for work. I’d like to come up with something a bit more creative than a hummus wrap or soup, but I never put enough thought into it while we’re grocery shopping. OK, this weekend I will buy something to bring for lunch.
4. APC Uninterruptible Power Supply
Ooooh, sexy! No but for serious, the power flickers at my super old house pretty frequently and since I primarily use a desktop computer this has meant turning my computer on and off each and every time I use it to avoid damage. It’s a real bummer and I’d like to be able to leave it on without worrying. I edited the photo below to make it appear more exciting but also realized that yellow sparks aren’t the best complement to a giant surge protector.
5. My First Stitch Fix Box
Got an email this morning that my box shipped today! I scheduled it to arrive on Friday but I’m allowing a glimmer of hope that it will arrive on Thursday. Of course I’d still have to wait to share the contents until I can unpack it in the daylight, and since I live in the arctic tundra of the Midwest, that would be Saturday (because I work during daylight hours, not because the sun only rises every few days, btw. At least I think.) I’ve heard that your first box is often not your best because they are getting to know your style and what you like (and hate). But I dutifully pinned on my Wardrobe board and I’m hoping the message was received and I don’t unpack leather pants this week. Then again, maybe I could pull it off…
